Our 488 Pista Spider

The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider was developed with a very different philosophy from the standard 488 GTB. Rather than a mild evolution, it drew heavily from Ferrari’s Challenge racing programme, with clear emphasis on weight reduction, cooling efficiency and aerodynamic performance.

Around 90 kg was removed through extensive use of carbon fibre. The bonnet, front bumper, rear spoiler and intake sections were all reworked in the lightweight material.

Additionally, downforce increased by approximately 20% compared to the 488 GTB, while drag only rose by 2%. A revised front cooling layout changed the angle and positioning of the radiators, allowing hot air to exit lower down the bodywork. This kept airflow over the car cleaner and cooler, reducing the need for significantly larger intercoolers and improving overall thermal management.

Our 488 Pista Spider is painted in rare Verde Militare featuring a liver in Oro. Additionally, the wheels were painted in Oro Opaco. The interior includes Nero Alcantara together with Nocciola stitching and Oro painted F1 button surrounds and 12 o’clock marker on the steering wheel

488 Challenge Engine

The engine of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is not a revised 488 GTB unit. What not many people know is that the engine is actually closely derived from the 488 Challenge race car. By using ;ighter internals, including titanium conrods and other race-derived components, rotating mass is reduced and allow the turbos to spool more quickly.

Verde Militare

Commissioned on our 488 Pista Spider, Verde Militare is believed to have been applied to only three Ferraris. Just three cars were ever delivered under the name Verde Militare, before the colour was later reintroduced by Ferrari as Verde Minerale. As such, Verde Militare represents a short-lived and rarely seen Ferrari colour, making this specification exceptionally uncommon.

Ferrari's 50th Spider

Unveiled in 2018, the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider marked a significant milestone as Ferrari’s 50th Spider. Rather than commemorating the occasion with a celebratory or retrospective model, Ferrari chose to do so with its most extreme open V8 to date.
