Our SA Aperta

The Ferrari SA Aperta was created to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and stands as one of the most exclusive open Ferraris of the modern era.

Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, the SA Aperta retained the front-mid-mounted naturally aspirated V12, producing 670 hp, but introduced extensive structural reinforcement to compensate for the removal of the fixed roof. A carbon fibre windshield frame, reinforced A-pillars, and a revised rear deck ensured torsional rigidity remained intact despite the open configuration.

Production was limited to just 80 examples, all pre-sold before completion, reinforcing its positioning as a true collector car rather than a regular series derivative.

Our SA Aperta was number 40 out of 80 and finished in Grigio Ferro over a Cuoio leather interior.

Sergio and Andrea

The Ferrari SA Aperta was created to mark the 80th anniversary of Pininfarina, Ferrari’s long-standing design partner and the studio responsible for defining the marque’s visual identity for decades.

The name SA stands for Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, honouring both the founder of the design house and his son, who played a key role in shaping Ferrari’s modern design language. Limiting production to 80 examples was a direct reference to Pininfarina’s anniversary.

GTO and GTB

The SA Aperta is fitted with the 599 GTO derived V12, producing 670 hp, and uses the GTO exhaust system. This gives the SA the same sharp throttle response and aggressive acoustic character.

The suspension, however, remains closer to the 599 GTB Fiorano. It is tuned for usability and stability rather than the firmer, more track-oriented GTO setup. This combination makes the SA Aperta a unique hybrid: GTO power and sound, paired with GTB-oriented dynamics.

Modular roof mechanism

The Ferrari 599 SA Aperta was supplied with both a fabric soft top and a removable carbon fibre hard top. The rear buttresses and C-pillar sections can also be removed, allowing the car to be configured in multiple open-air layouts.

This modular approach was technically complex for a front-engined V12 Ferrari and required significant structural reinforcement to maintain rigidity. Rather than adopting a conventional folding roof mechanism, Ferrari opted for a lighter and more direct solution that preserved the proportions of the original 599 while allowing open-air driving.
